Dose of Reality

The Copenhagen summit, where 5 major nations (U.S, China, Brazil, India & South Africa) negotiated on a global climate deal, has come to an end late Friday. Though an accord has been reached & they claim there’s been some progress, we fail to see any firm agreements made in regards to neither reducing long-term greenhouse gas emissions nor controlling the global temperature rise.  What appalls us the most is the fact that the 5 nations that got to call the shots on this global issue, are some of the most industrialized countries responsible for the most greenhouse gas emissions – yet the poor, developing countries, including the small island nations affected the most by global warming, didn’t have a say in this accord.
